Financial Strength

Strength, Flexibility, and Reliability
Financial Strength You Can Depend On

Your Texas Workers’ Compensation Connection

The Texas Workers’ Compensation marketplace has been volatile for the past twenty years with many legislative changes and rate fluctuations. Texas Builders Insurance Company has held steady in the Texas marketplace for over 23 years and counting, when other Companies were leaving the state, we stayed the course and provided reliable protection for our policyholders.

Policyholder Surplus

Our 12/31/09 year end policyholder surplus was $4,532,568, compared to net written premiums of $5,251,704 for the same period. This leverage indicator is very conservative and indicates that Texas Builders Insurance Company could increase its written premium significantly without jeopardizing our financial strength.

Our “Safety Net” of Reinsurance

Texas Builders Insurance Company protects its policyholder surplus by retaining a limited amount of exposure on any given loss or occurrence.  Our reinsurance program is constructed around a group of strong reinsurance partners all rated “A” or better by A.M. Best. (click here to learn about more our reinsurance program)

Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association

Texas Builders Insurance Company is also a member of the Texas Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Association which further protects our policyholders and claimants. The TPCIGA is a non-profit, unincorporated association of all Texas licensed property and casualty insurers.  It exists to protect Texas insurance policyholders and claimants when an insurance company fails.  For more information on the TPCIGA please visit their website www.tpciga.org.

Financial Oversight

Texas Builders Insurance Company is an admitted carrier domiciled in the State of Texas and regulated by the Texas Department of Insurance. The company is required to file quarterly financial statements with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and annually must file a statement with an independent actuary, certifying the loss reserves established by the company. Texas Builders Insurance Company also receives an annual independent certified public audit which is filed with the TDI as well as the NAIC.

Our Focus and Vision

Texas Builders Insurance Company is a Texas based company focused on Texas employers and claimants. We firmly believe that BIGGER is NOT better; therefore, we have been selective in the accounts we write, as evidenced by a loss ratio that has averaged 51% over the past three years ended December 31, 2009. The size of the Company allows us flexibility that benefits our agents, policyholders, and claimants. The objective of the Company is to provide reliable, prompt, and courteous attention to your specific needs.
